Jesse Owens

My game about Black History month will be based on the famous Olympic medalist James Cleveland also known as Jesse Owens. He was the youngest of ten children and he was raised very poorly. He was raised along with his siblings and  he went to Ohio State University. He won four gold medals on the Olympic games; 100 meters, 200 meters, the long jump and as part of the 4x100 meter relay team. He was a very successful man and he made history in the track world.

Description

This video game shows an adventure to three different tourist places in mexico. This game will have three different places that people enjoy. This game has a soccer stadium, a peninsula, and Lucha Libre. In the soccer stadium the player has to kick the ball in order to make a goal and feel the people screaming. In the peninsula the player has to move the character while it swims in order to find all of the ten hidden clown fish. And last but not least the player is going to have to hit the Luchador 50 times before the time runs out. If you don't find the things before time is up it will be game over. This game has different things that have to be done in order to play and that makes it entertaining for the player. This game has a lot of graphics and everything was original. The whole making of the game took a lot of time and it got me frustrated at times but now that is all come together it makes me feel relieved.

Adding game ingredients

The coding for some of the game ingredients really stressed me out. I had a hard time making the timer because it wouldn't work. For some reason it will go too fast or too slow. I ended up getting it to work but then it got lost so now I'm trying to do it again and its being hard for me again. I just hope that by tomorrow I have done it and it actually works just as it did before.

Present your hidden object game

The Big Idea:
Describe your learning topic for the game.
The learning topic of the game will be that mexico has tourist places that are very interesting and fun to go to.
What is the most important thing you want your players to learn?
I want the player to learn that Mexico is not all about shootings and fights that it actually has a very strong culture and very beautiful places to visit.

Research:
What kind of research did you do?
I had to do all kinds of research. From where the places are located to their history.
What did you learn about your topic?
From this topic I learned a lot of different facts about the tourist places in Mexico specially because i had to choose the ones that I was the most interested on.

Making Decisions:
How did your ideas change as you worked on your game?
My ideas changes a lot while making the game. I had the idea of just making the Yucatan peninsula and making it a long game but then when I was doing research another things interested me a lot so I had to change the things and also the graphics looked a bit different.

Mastering Programming:
What Game Ingredients and Help Center resources have been most useful to you so far, and why?
I think that the game ingredient of collision detection and scoring have been the most useful resources to me.

Overcoming Challenges:
Which part of making the game was most difficult for you?
The most difficult part of making my game for me was the coding and action script.
How did you overcome this difficulty?
I made a lot of research and I also watch a lot of Youtube video tutorials in order to know exactly what to do.
What features are you most proud of in your game?
I think that I am really proud of my graphics this year and also that it was a little bit easier this year to make my game.

Hidden Object Quiz

I created this Hidden Object mini game by hiding the butterflies into the bushes and also by creating the graphics. I had to add code so that the butterflies will disappear when the player clicks them. It was fun to make the graphics and I think that this code is easy for me now because have mastered it. Now I have the opportunity to play around with the code more. All I had to do make sure that it will look good was make the graphics in different layer and give each butterfly a different instance name.
